Denis Waitley is one of the most respected keynote lectures and productivity consultants in the world.

He has helped millions of individuals become winners. He has studied and counseled leaders in every field from "Fortune 500" top executives to managers of multinational corporations, from NASA astronauts to world class athletes, from heads of government to family and youth groups.

With over 10 million audio programs sold in 14 languages, Denis Waitley is the most-listened-to-voice on personal and career achievement.

In the mid-1970's, there were only two people who developed and marketed recorded speeches promoting personal development - Earl Nightingale was the first and Paul J. Meyer was second. Denis Waitley became the third.

He is the author of 17 books and 10 audio recordings. He has shared the stage with such greats as Zig Ziglar, Norman Vincent Peale, Paul Harvey, Robert Schuller and Art Linkletter, to name a few. Waitley was also friends with W. Clement Stone, the early publisher of SUCCESS magazine, and was featured on the cover in 1979.

Denis Waitley's grandmother was his greatest role model. She taught Denis,

"You have to go through life pulling out the weeds while reveling in the splendor of the flower."

She encouraged Denis to read all the great classic books and as a result his library card became a lot more priceless to him then his MasterCard or his platinum American express card had.

Then his eight-grade teacher gave him an prestigious gift: As A Man Thinketh, by James Allen. The affect on Waitley was twofold. He felt affirmed by the positive words of another person, and the author of the book presented individuals as gardeners, planting seeds that would affect the future. Just like grandma.

Grandma said,

"You know the seeds of greatness? There not the gift of birth or money or skin deep beauty or intellect, there attitudes and beliefs that begin as children. And then by watching movies, peer pressure off handed unnoticed, she says, there like cobwebs. At first there very flimsy and transparent and then with practice they become like cables to strenghten or shackle our lives."

Then she told Denis,

"You should plant the great ideas of other people in your mind, from proven track records of success and read biographies of important people who have overcome enormous handicaps. She also said, "You IQ is not so important, look at it as imagination quotient rather than intelligence quotient."

She taught him to look beyond his circumstances and become the person he was meant to be. Waitley tells of one particularly poignant memory.

"We planted a garden together. I was amazed that the tiny seeds we were burying in the ground would become something we would later harvest and eat."

In response to his wonder, grandma told Waitley that they were planting seeds of greatness. Years later, her answer became the title of his New York time Best-Seller, Seeds of Greatness.

Wow what a story. I wish I would have had a grandma like that.

SHARING WHAT DENIS HAS LEARNT

When asked what he would say to someone trying break free from generations of failure, Waitley recommends studying the biographies of successful people.

"Remember, most successful people don't enjoy that success until later in life," he says.

"It's also important to determine your gifts, focus on them and be you. Chase your passion and not your pension, and of course, make certain that you hang around optimists."

?Model your thoughts and actions after men and women who have been passionate, excellent, honest, unselfish and creative in their service to others,? my grandmother had counseled. Armed with that affirmation, I ventured forth to sow and reap my own legacy in life.

I?ve traveled the world to the seven seas.
I?ve been up at the top and down on my knees.
I?ve been blessed with abundance and plenty of weeds.
But I?ve never stopped caring about others? needs.
As you tend your own garden, unlike any other.

Remember the words of my lovely grandmother:

?If you?re hoping to harvest a life of great deeds, remember you first have to plant some great seeds.?

Have An Awesome Day!
